Chiang Mai National Museum : Thailand
Chiang Mai National Museum is a regional museum established by the Fine Arts Department to be the center of education, conservation, and information services in the arts and culture of Chiang Mai and the upper North, or the ancient Lanna. In 1996 Chiang Mai National Museum was repaired and extended the building, as well as renovated permanent exhibitions for various academic and technical exhibits in aspects of natural science, prehistoric archeology, history, ethnology, and the arts of Lanna.
Chiang Mai National Museum was established in 1978 as a center of education, conservation, and information services in the arts and culture of Chiang Mai and the upper North. His Majesty King and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit presided over the opening ceremony of the museum, which is a two-storey tetrahedron building with the local-style decoration and watched the permanent exhibitions in the building on February 6, 1973.
Chiang Mai National Museum was first refurbished with the addition of the building and the permanent exhibitions in 1996. From 2013-2017, Chiang Mai National Museum continuously renovated the exhibitions to suit the needs of visitors and to maximize benefits to visitors.
