Phu Mu Forest Park or the Pig Mountain is 353 meters high above sea level. It is a plateau with an area of 4 square kilometers at the mountaintop. The Pig Mountain was named for the wild boars that used to roam the area. There are 3 vantage points overlooking Mukdahan at 100, 400, and 800 meters from Phu Mu Forest Park’s office.
The main mountain in this area is Phu Mu (Pig Mountain) at an elevation of 353 metres. The mountain has a fairly level plateau that is nearly 4 square kilometres in size. Three viewpoints along the way to the peak offer some nice views of the town of Mukdahan.
The mountain is situated within the Phu Sa Dok Bua National Park, and permission to enter the area must be received from the Forestry Department.
To go there, take Highway Number 212 (Mukdahan – Koeng Nok Tha). At around 128th-129th kilometer, turn left and drive for 12 kilometers. Since it is an asphalt road uphill but quite narrow, large car are not able to use this route. Tourists can stay overnight in the accommodations or tents provided. It is highly recommended to be careful while traveling.
