Koh Thung Nang Dam : Phang Nga, Thailand

Thung Nang Dam Island is a completely unknown island. It is situated on the coast off Khuraburi in Phang Nga province. Thung Nang Dam is the northernmost of the large coastal islands of Phang Nga province.

Koh Thung Nang Dam has a 6 km long sandy beach on its western shore, called Khuraburi Beach. From there on a clear day visitors can spot the Surin Islands due west in the Andaman Sea. It is clearly separated from the mainland by a 10 to 200 meter wide mangrove lined canal.

Thung Nang Dam Island has less than 50 inhabitants living far apart from each other in solitary houses. Families have moved to the mainland so that the children get a normal education.
