Burapha University‘s Institute of Marine Science is different from the other faculty buildings on campus. This particular building is home to an educational, yet mesmerizing, aquarium and museum, open daily to students, staff and the general public. Located just west of the main entrance, this particular building also has its own entrance off Long-Had Bangsaen Road for westbound traffic. The life-long learning resources model in marine science and the first recreational tourist attraction for education of Thailand.
The Institute building is home to two main services: the Marine Aquarium and the Marine Science Museum. The aquarium is an indoor ‘tour style’ building filled with exhibits of various different marine animal and plant species contained within large and small tanks. The Museum section is designed to educate visitors through visual identification of both marine flora and fauna that are no longer living. Together these two amenities allow for staff, students, and the public to be educated on the importance of marine life, in a fun and interactive environment.
Saltwater Animal Shelter: It is an exhibition area to provide the knowledge about living things and way of life of saltwater animals that live in the territorial water of Thailand. The resources that are used to provide the knowledge are living things in the sea of both plants and animals. All these living things will be raised in a closed water circulation system with life supporing system for these living things to be able to live. Each tank is arranged to have the condition that resembles nature and also has labels to indicate the type of sea animals with their common name and scientific name.
Aquarium of Marine Science: It exhibits an exhibition to honor His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej about His Royal Duties in terms of rehabilitation, natural resources conservation, and fisheries science. The exhibition area exhibits the story of marine science.
