Doi Tung : Chiang Rai, Thailand

Doi Tung is a mountain in the Thai highlands of Chiang Rai Province, Thailand. While not the highest elevation of the province, the 1,389 m high Doi Tung rises steeply close to the Thailand-Myanmar border. It is the highest point of the Doi Nang Non, a subrange of the Daen Lao Range, in the area known as “Golden Triangle”.

Doi Tung is gone of the most famous tourist destinations of Chiang Rai Province. Several places can be seen on “Doi Tung Palace” such as the palace of the King’s Mother which was built fusing Lanna and Swiss architectural styles. Then there is “the Mae Fah Luang Garden”, the most beautiful park of the country.

The Royal Villa incorporates architectural elements from Switzerland,where Her Royal Highness lived for many years,and from northern Thai or Lanna culture.Her Royal Highness used the Royal Villa as a base to oversee work in the Doi Tung Development Project.

The Royal villa consists of 4 connected buildings(1)the personal residence of Her Royal Highness the Princess Mother(2)a large reception hall,(3)the personal residence of than phuying (dame)Tasna Valaya Sorasongkrarn,granddaughter of H.R.H. the Princess Mother,and (4)the personal residence of H.R.H.Princess Galyani Vadhana,daughter of H.R.H. the Princess Mother.
