The back of Wat Panan Choeng Temple area and connected to the Viharn is the location of the Chinese Building with the Shrine of The Lady Soi Dok Mak who is the Chinese princess in the legends of the temple. The outside walls are lined with Chinese Dragons, the same dragons that is in the legend of the celebration of Chinese New Years.
The back of the building is a tribute to Jao Mae Kuan Yin who is believed to be the god of Mercy, there are many versions of her and the one that is shown through in this building is the version with many arms, the belief that is entwined to this version is that she has thousands of arms that she uses to reach out to people to help them all at the same time.
The shrine for Lady Soi Dok Mak is located on the upper floor with a Chinese statue that is believed to be a representation of her, the shrine was constructed with the aim to present the source of the founding for the Wat Panan Choeng temple. The Wat Panan Choeng temple is overall one of the iconic temples in Ayutthaya, if you go into the area it is definitely a must to visit, the presence of the 19 meter Buddha statue alone will give you an impressive memory that pictures definitely cannot truly capture the enormous scale that it is as compared to when you visit it in person. The Wat Panan Choeng can be visited everyday from 8.00 to 17.00 and the fee to enter is 20 THB for Foreigners.
