Ban Chalok Lam : Phangan, Suratthani, Thailand

Ban Chalok Lam is a bay located in the north of Pha Ngan Island. In some seasons, it is not windy, but sometimes the wind can be so strong that the boats cannot be harbored. When the sea is calm, there will be approximately 80-100 fishing boats harboring around here. During that time, the village will be crowed all day and all night. There will also be stores just like in the big market. One of the well-known products which is popular among tourists is dried squids.

Chalok Lam (also Chaloklum) occupies a very natural picturesque location at the northernmost tip of Koh Pha Ngan. The shoreline stretches for some 3 km and the mountains frame the bay in its entirety. This was once a fishing village where industry dominated the seafront and activity until just a few years ago when the rows of drying squid were removed from the beaches to allow tourism to flourish.

There are many Thai-style restaurants and some new funkier bars and restaurants in the village seafront with bungalows across the bay also offering food and drink.
