Wat Yai Chaimongkon : Ayutthaya, Thailand

Wat Yai Chaimongkon is an ancient temple believed to be built during the reign of King U-Thong was, according to the legend, was given a grand renovation in the reign of King Naresuan the Great.

The renovation included the construction of the giant Chedi Chai Mongkol to celebrate his victory over Burma and store “victory spell.”

The pagoda is so large it’s easily seen from faraway locations.
